About The Heroes Center

The Heroes Center is a 501c3 that provides all Veterans with the necessary resources to successfully transition into civilian life. We address the tough issues facing Veterans such as transitional housing, job placement and the challenges of connecting in community. The Heroes Center approach is three-fold:

  • Retreat and Renewal: Through a collaborative relationship with a generous donor, we provide weekend retreats and opportunities for active-duty military and Veteran families to be renewed on a private farm at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Mt. Airy, NC.
  • Veteran Assistance: The Heroes Center is the only 501c3 in the Triad providing wrap-around services to the veteran community. Excluding weekends and holidays in 2022, the organization responded to a veteran assistance request every day last year.
  • Community Building: Veterans from across the state come together in High Point for social enrichment, camaraderie and moral support.

Supporting Veterans in Transition

The Heroes Center proudly supports a strong network that provides Veterans with access to Veteran Service Organizations and nonprofits dedicated to assisting Veterans across NC, VA benefits, and a broad network of resources.

The challenges of transitioning back to civilian life after a tour of duty can be overwhelming. Many of our veterans have been exposed to life-or-death situations and are still haunted by ghosts of their time in the service. Coping can push their capacities to the limit, and as a result, many veterans drop out of the workforce. The Heroes Center seeks to remove these barriers by providing short term transitional housing and a support network.
